State Public Defender Director - Posted 9/26/24. The Missouri State Public Defender System is seeking a Department Director responsible for the overall administration of a statewide indigent defense system with an annual budget of $78 million, 696 employees in 47 offices across Missouri. This position requires significant time spent in both Columbia and Jefferson City, with Missouri residency being a requirement. The Director will assume the role of Director in July, 2025, but should be available to begin as Director-elect in January, 2025. Candidates must have substantial experience in criminal defense, leadership experience within a large organization, and be eligible for bar licensure in Missouri.
