This scholarship is sponsored by AWL members who generously add a donation to their annual dues payment in order to fund this award. This scholarship is intended as an education supplement for a law student who identifies as a woman and has distinguished herself or themself through academics, community service and/or involvement in activities promoting women in the legal profession. The Board will select the recipient based on a number of factors including financial need, academics, community service, and the applicant’s personal statement. The Award will be made to one student (part-time or full-time) who identifies as a woman, has completed at least one full year of law school, and will be classified as a second- or third-year law student (2L or 3L) in the spring of 2025. 

The scholarship is offered and awarded once annually to a law student who identifies as a woman from one of the Kansas City area law schools (within a 150 mile radius). The award includes a $2,000 cash scholarship; AWL membership fee waiver as a student, and for the first year of practice; and recognition in AWL's monthly e-newsletter, The Spotlight. The deadline to apply is on or before Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:59 pm (central time). The cash award will be given in January of 2025, and the individual will be recognized during AWL's Spring Judicial Reception (date to be determined).
